CDUTCM-KEELE Joint Health and Medical Sciences Institute participates in the 2023 UK-China Joint Institute Alliance Annual General Meeting & Transnational Education Conference
From 29th to 30th of November, the 2023 UK-China Joint Institute Alliance Annual General Meeting & Transnational Education Conference was held in Chengdu. The conference was hosted by Glasgow College, UESTC, and attracted more than 130 Chinese and foreign delegates from 41 Sino-British cooperative Education Institutions. Chen Yuan, Dean of CDUTCM-KEELE Joint Health and Medical Sciences Institute, and Mark Hubée, Executive Dean of the British department, were invited to participate in the event as members of the alliance.
The conference was held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and chaired by Luo Guangchun, Vice President of UESTC.
Zeng Yong, President of the University of Electronic Science and Technology (UESTC), Yang Jianguo, Second Class Inspector of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Nick Thomas, Minister of Culture and Education of the British Embassy in Beijing, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. An Yan, Deputy Secretary General of the China Education Association For International Exchange, sent a video to congratulate the conference.
As the first Sino-foreign cooperative institution to be established by Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Keele University in 2023, Mark Hubée, Executive Dean of the institution, introduced the basic overview of the institution to the participants in the session on the 29th, focusing on the history of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Keele University, the institution's major setups, the situation of faculty members, and the equipment.
Representatives of member UK-China Joint Institute Alliance conducted in-depth exchanges on the deepening of Sino-British educational cooperation, strengthening of transnational education quality assurance, prospects for the development of digitalization in education, integration of teaching, research and production, and various details of practical issues in Sino-British teaching cooperation.
UK-China Joint Institute Alliance was established in 2017 and is committed to the internationalization of higher education and the promotion of extensive and in-depth cooperation between Chinese and British higher education. In the future, China and the UK will work together to achieve greater success in promoting the normal operation of cooperative institutions and improving the academic performance of students and teaching quality.
